About the Course:

This course will explore a number of aspects pertaining to nuclear weapons, with the theme of UC involvement as a prism through which to view this information. The course will begin with the historical background of militarism and the UC before exploring in depth the problems posed by the inclusion of education into the Military-Industrial complex. We will also consider nuclear weapon’s place in foreign relations and international law. Finally, we will look at the ethics of nuclear weapons and activism both past and present. Class will emphasize democratic participation.

We will provide the lower- and upper- division CCNs at our first meeting on September 11th. People who e-mailed will be given priority.
