Welcome! This course is a two unit, pass/no pass decal about the fantasy book series His Dark Materials, written by Philip Pullman. We will explore his world of daemons, panzerbjorne, alethiometers, subtle knives, and Authority through class lectures and in-class discussion. The books we will be reading for class are: The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass, and Lyra’s Oxford.
There will be a special emphasis on the physics concepts in the books. Students will not be expected to know any physics or to have read the books. Students will be graded based on attendance, weekly homework assignments, weekly quizes, class participation, and submission of a final project. For more information see the Bookworlds website.

Please send an email to the course contact (HDMDecal@yahoo.com) prior to enrolling in the course. CCNs will be handed out at the first day of class, September 6th, in 223 Dwinelle.
There is only one section, Wednesdays from 5-7pm.
