About the Course:
Your friends laugh at you because you love Harry Potter, so wouldn´t it be great to throw in their faces something like the Aristotelian theory behind the construct of Hogwarts Houses? If you agree, this class is for you...
The objective of this course is to explore the world within and surrounding Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. In this course we hope to analyze the philosophical implications that result from educational issues at Hogwarts, by examining themes like: good vs. evil, determinism vs. free will, social issues and so on. By doing so, we intend to reveal the many layers of the Harry Potter series -- those which Rowling developed throughout the series as well as the ones she left for the reader to investigate more deeply.
