About the Course:
Governance @ Cal seeks to increase the accountability and knowledge of Academic Senate and Campus Administrative committee representatives. But all students are welcome to enroll as well, for the course will explore academic policy and decision-making here at UC Berkeley.
However, creating a forum of information concerning policy and shared governance is just the first step. Governance @ Cal will also enable representatives and non-representatives alike to share their experiences and perspectives, to better orient on a truly campus-wide vision.
Speakers from various administrative/policy units on campus and outside campus will be brought in to speak every week to better educate the students. Question and answer sessions will follow, along with general open discussion. Seeing every side of an issue will be emphasized, issues such as the BP Deal, the level of technology available to students on campus, student transportation, student fees, and so on and so forth.
If you truly wish to become a more involved and active Berkeley student, take this course.
