About the Course:

Cal Environmental Team is a civil engineering competition team focusing on wastewater treatment and engineering design. Given a recipe for synthetic wastewater, we design a physical filtration system out of a given list of household materials, and a chemical treatment plan to improve the water's pH, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, and turbidity. We also balance parameter improvement with minimal cost and maximum sustainability. We compete with other universities at the ASCE sponsored Mid-Pacific conference every April, where we are judged on our technical design report, oral presentation, and the effectiveness, cost, and sustainability of our treatment system.

This course aims to provide students with hands-on lab experience with water quality testing. This course also exposes students to design, cost analysis, life-cycle assessment, data analysis, and technical writing. At the end of the semester, we will host a mini filter design competition to combine all the skills taught in the course.

How to Enroll:

Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. CCNs will be given out first day of class. All majors are welcome to join!
