About the Course:

Are you pasisonate about food and agriculture, or just wondering what's with all the buzz around "food systems"?? In this class we will discuss the environmentalsocial, and economic dimensions of contemporary food and agriculture, along with some alternative models. We will look at our food system from many perpectives to get a holistic view, covering a range of topics including the Farm Bill and policy, agroecology, multinational corporations, GMOs, food security, and anything else you want to introduce to us! We will begin the semester talking about the current state of food and agriculture globally and nationally, and then shrink our scope to the East Bay and look at the many local organizations and businesses addressing these issues.

Enrollment will be first come, first served on the first day of class (January 28th, 4-6pm in 41 Evans).
