About the Course:

For more than fifty years, UC Berkeley has been known for its active student body. That tradition of activism continues to thrive today, and there are dozens of organizations that give back to the community through advocacy or service. This DeCal gives a comprehensive introduction to three of these organizations: the Bay Area Urban Debate League (BAUDL), Lobby Corps, and Berkeley Common Cause. Each approaches public service in different ways but are bound by a similar passion for improving our community and our country.

The Cal in the Community DeCal is divided into three sessions. These sessions will introduce the three organizations, giving a background in how BAUDL, Lobby Corps, and Berkeley Common Cause each work and how students can become involved in them. By the end of Cal in the Community, students will have been exposed to three ways they can become active in public service during their time at Berkeley.

How to Enroll:

Anyone who is interested in getting involved in public service is welcome to join! Enrollment is based on a first come, first serve basis.
