About the Course:

***UPDATE 2/4: LAST DAY TO ADD THIS CLASS IS 2/10! Please email rhea at berkeley dot edu directly and ASAP if you're interested in enrolling in this course! Best, -R & A!***

This is not just a class. This is an opportunity for you to do many things you haven't had time to do while earning the last 2 units you need to top off your semester. This is an opportunity for self-discovery; an excuse to perfect your professional portfolio; a mean to increase your awareness as a consumer; and a chance to learn remarkable ways to hack life and reach your goals.

More informatively, Success, Savviness, & Self-Actualization for Practical, Professional People is a class applying empirical findings from Behavioral Economics, Positive Psychology, and Professional Development to teach you to be a savvy professional who is well-prepared for life beyond (UC) Berkeley in various life aspects.

I, the facilitator, highly value life-relevance and applicability and absolutely abhor busy-work. That said, all assignments for this class are useful and useable in the real world. All of your "homework assignments" will make up your professional portfolio that includes the following:

   A resume or CV

A working draft of your personal statement (for graduate school)

   A professional references list

   A LinkedIn Profile

& A personal budget (not for your portfolio, just for your own reference)

In addition to the aforementioned assignments, each student will be assigned one short book (250 pages average) on a topic from behavioral economics or positive psychology to read throughout the semester and present as a final project. Please refer to the syllabus for further clarification regarding the grading policy for this course.
