About the Course:

The Berkeley Review of Cognitive Science Articles (BROCA) aims to assist students in finding, understanding, analyzing, and discussing fascinating research in the field of Cognitive Science. The papers we discuss will be selected and presented by professors, post­doctoral fellows and graduate students at UC Berkeley and beyond.

Every week, students will be assigned a paper that was selected by a guest speaker to read for the next class session. Each student will be responsible for reading the paper and posting a response on the course page at least two hours before class.

In the middle of the semester, students will be required to visit office hours for a professor of their choice and submit a summary of the resulting discussion. Towards the end of the semester, students will give a short presentation to the class on a cognitive science article of their choice.

Grades will be based on attendance, participation in discussions, completion of responses, submission of the office hours assignment, and the presentation. As this is a discussion-­based class, only two absences are permitted in a semester.
