About the Course:

The Berkeley Fiction Review is an undergraduate, student-run publication and the oldest literary journal on the Berkeley campus. We publish an annual compilation of short stories from around the world.

We look for innovative short fiction that plays with form and content, as well as traditionally constructed stories with fresh voices and original ideas.

In the class, students will read, discuss, and vote on stories to be published. At the end of this semester, we will be publishing Issue 36.

For more information, please visit our website ( or look at the syllabus posted under the Files section below.

How to Enroll:

Please send us an email ( with your name, and 1–2 paragraphs about why you are interested in joining Berkeley Fiction Review and what you would contribute to the journal.

We will notify you about whether you're in the class or on the waitlist once the class has reached capacity. Regardless, please attend the first day of class in the fall.
