About the Course:

This DeCal course will serve as a broad introductory overview of the field of Electrical Engineering. It will cover basic concepts such as voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, and inductance from an electrical engineering perspective and will focus on hands on measurements of these properties. From there we will dive into transistors, digital logic, and begin to get a look at computers work.

This DeCal course will be facilitated by the officers of the IEEE (Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers) student branch. The first half of the course will focus on the above stated electrical engineering properties and their measurements, while the second half will involve applied circuit construction design.

In the last few weeks we will build a final project that uses what you have learned in throughout the semester to make something awesome.

The material presented in this DeCal is suitable for any students curious about the field of electrical engineering and requires no previous engineering or math experience at Berkeley. The course may not be suitable for those students who have completed EE40 or are more familiar with the material covered in EE40.

We will use a hands on approach to electronics where we will spend as much time building real working circuits as we will in learning theory.

How to Enroll:

All Students are welcome regardless of backgrounds in engineering, physics, or math. Being a humanities major may actually be a plus!

Students who have completed or are enrolled in EE40 or EE100 should not join.

CCN’s to be given out in class. Not here.
