About the Course:
Have you ever wanted to learn how to converse with Cantonese-speaking friends, order Dim Sum in Chinatown, or understand Hong Kong movie dialogue or song lyrics? Well this is the class for you! This class will teach you how to introduce yourself to that cute international student and impress your friends with funny slang! Learn about Cantonese culture and food and just enjoy yourself in this class full of other excited students.
There are no prerequisites for the course, thoughwe cannot accept fluent Cantonese speakers(defined as someone who can carry on a conversation rather well. If you are unsure of your level, come to orientation and we can assess your abilities). We do take native Mandarin speakers, as long as they do not speak much Cantonese.
Beginner classes are for students with little to no exposure to the language.
Intermediate classes are for students with some exposure and can at least introduce themselves in Cantonese. Students who pass the beginner class may also be eligible for the intermediate level.
Other relevant information can be found on the syllabus. If you find yourself asking a question that the syllabus doesn't answer, please don't hesitate to shoot us an e-mail :)
How to Enroll:
Just come to the student orientation with a completed student questionnaire (which can be downloaded below)! We will go over important course policies and answer any questions you may have.

August 30, 2012 -- 5 PM - 5:30 PM (155 Barrows)
Intermediate orientation:

Remember to bring a completed student questionnaire to the orientation! If you cannot make it to the orientation, PLEASE e-mail Ken or Anna right away!
Hopeful intermediate students: There will be a brief casual interview during the orientation so that we can make sure the class is appropriate for your skill level.
You must attend orientation and fill out a questionnaire before we will e-mail the CCN to you! The first day of class will be announced at orientation. Let us know if you cannot make the orientation.
