About the Course:

Everybody has leadership skills in one form or another. Throughout this course you will uncover your strengths and learn how to project confidence and speak articulately in a variety of settings including job interviews, classrooms and work settings. Additionally you will acquire skills needed to be an effective leader, teacher, or mentor.

You may be confident in your leadership skills but want to know more about how to apply them in everyday settings. Our capacity to educate and influence our peers begins with our capacity to lead. We will uncover “Emotionomics” and the skills behind effective listening and engaged speaking. These skills will help improve your confidence in every interaction.

Public Speaking (educating and persuading others through speech) is one that requires constant attention. A focal point of this course will be overcoming your fears and anxiety behind speaking in small and large groups. We will bring in confident speakers from different fields with different styles, in order to give us a variety of examples.

Some of the world’s brightest minds are UC Berkeley students.  In a difficult and competitive job market, however, applicants also need to have excellent skills in interviewing, networking, and conversing with others. In this course you will build confidence around these skills and prepare yourself for the obstacles you’ll face as you begin to seek jobs and internships.
