About the Course:
Premed 101 is for students looking to acquire a better understanding of the often confusing issues in the field of medicine as well as medical school application process.
The class will begin with a summary of the classes to take to be a successful premed, how to go about obtaining research/clinical experience, and how to do well on the MCAT. The class will shift later in the course on major issues in the field of medicine that are crucial to the day to day lives of being a physician.
Throughout this course you will hear from a myriad of informative speakers who are highly successful in their respective fields, such as physicians, surgeons, premedical counselors and medical school students. The 1 unit will come from four homework assignments and attendance. There is more information on our course syllabus.
How to Enroll:
The first day of class is Wednesday, August 29th from 6:00-7:30pm in 141 McCone and meets every Wednesday thereafter. Enrollment is limited to the first 100 students who sign up. Please sign up for the lower division if you are a freshman or sophomore (less than 60 units) and upper division if you are a junior or a senior. Historically, the course fills up very quickly. Please be sure to attend the first day of class, so as not to be dropped from the class roster. Should the waiting list be full, still attend the first lecture and speak with one of the Head Facilitators to get on a manual wait-list.
Please do not contact Dr. Presti, MCB personnel, or the DeCal Board regarding enrollment.
