About the Course:

“Bond, James Bond.” Those words are synonymous with a suave, daring, smart, and larger-than-life figure that has come to be a defining part of pop culture since the release of Dr. No in 1962. This course will simultaneously blend film showings with their literary inspirations to examine how the Bond franchise has mirrored world events, set trends in pop culture, and ultimately be able to form an opinion as to why James Bond has retained his popularity to this very day.

This course is designed equally for people who have never seen a James Bond movie, as well as people who have seen all twenty. Please do not disqualify yourself from applying simply because you have never seen a James Bond movie.

This class will be discussion based, so attendance to film showings and completion of assigned reading is mandatory. Films and included readings can be found in the syllabus, which all prospective students are encouraged to read before asking for a CCN.

How to Enroll:

Enrollment is limited to 30 students, split evenly between upper and lower divisions at the moment. Depending on demand this may change, as could size depending on popularity. Please e-mail for a CCN and specify whether you need upper or lower division and make sure you’ve read the syllabus so you know what you’re signing up for here. If you have any questions, or just care to chat, do not hesitate to e-mail as well!

If sections become full, we will be allowing people to add to a waitlist. This will be processed automatically on a first come, first served basis. Students whether enrolled or on the waitlist should show up the this first class meeting if they wish to keep their seat.
