About the Course:

Who we are: Folks who create their own comics! We draw and want to share our love of comics. We’ll show you the basics of sequential art, but most of the semester will be spent drawing and writing individual or group comics of your own creation. We publish the decal’s comics at: http://uccomics.wordpress.com/

             Who we’re looking for: People who love comics! People who want to create comics! You may tell the your stories through any means: web, flash, traditional, sculptural, etc., so long as it can be translated into about 10~20 6x9 in. pages of text with image. At the end of the semester, we hope to publish a print anthology for the whole class, so you'll have something to remember us by. (: 

How to Enroll:

We have a limited number of seats. Sorry, but you need to submit an application to get in! 

Before applying: 

We designed the comics studio decal for people who love comics and wish to improve as storytellers. Like most decals, this course does not fulfill major requirements. Unlike most decals, this course requires about as much work as a normal art department studio course. So, personal interest is the only reason to participate. Please be generous with your enthusiasm and creative energies in class. You will have absolutely nothing to worry about, so long as you are making friends, making comics, and having fun.

Application:

Email application to comicsstudiodecal@gmail.com, by August 27th 2012.

1. Your major/minor + class level (fresh., soph., junior, senior)

2. A short description of any previous relevant experience you've had (writing, illustration, etc.) Don't worry, it's alright if you don't have any!

3. Write a few sentences about what you hope to learn from this decal.

4. Write a synopsis of an original short story you want to develop, with concept art. You can also include pictures of your previous work.
