About the Course:

This course provides a comprehensive analysis of homosexuality through the lens of three distinct frames of conceptualization: the biological aspects of homosexuality, the legality of homosexual rights, and homosexual culture past and present. We will begin the semester summarizing some of the basic tenants of Queer Theory. Next we will turn to the biology of homosexuality looking at the various biological theories of homosexuality as a heritable trait as well as analyzing the validity of such studies. In the legal portion of the class, we will be looking at past and present laws about homosexuality, focusing specifically on the controversial argument over the legality of same-sex marriage in the United States. The final portion of the course will consider a broad range of cultural issues centralized around homosexuality.

If you have freshman or sophomore standing, you may enroll with the lower CCN via telebears under LGBT Studies 98.
