About the Course:
D.U.L.C.E. is a diabetes awareness and prevention program established in 2001. Through the decal, students will gain the knowledge on diabetes, complications, treatments, prevention, and health policy. As a means of raising the importance of diabetes prevention, the students will explore personal and community health. In order for the students to feel comfortable conveying the knowledge to their friends, family and community there will be a Health Education Activity and a presentation on diabetes to student organizations. Students are expected to participate in class discussions and attend local health fairs, presentations, and/or health advocacy events. Homework is assigned to give students the opportunity to reflect on the topic presented during that week. By the end of the semester, students will have the vital knowledge and skills necessary to convey the information in community health events.
