About the Course:

This class introduces students to the basic movement, rhythm and styling of Argentine tango as well as the history and culture of the dance.  No experience or dance partner is required.

Grading policy:

60%  Attendance and participation. One absence is excused; each additional absence is a 10% penalty. Completion of short weekly assignments will be included in this grade.

20%  Dancing reflections and homework. Students are required to dance tango outside of class twice in the semester and submit their short essays reflecting on their experience by the end of the semester.

20% Project: Students will be assigned a tango-related topic such as famous composers or dancers. They will then complete a project such as creating their own tanda (set of tango songs) or performing a choreographed routine for the class.

A passing grade is 80%. This means that more than two unexcused absences will not be a passing grade.

Enrollment Summary:

Space is limited, so enrollment will be determined based on attendance of the first two classes and a short entrance questionnaire.  The CCN will be given out before the second class.

Come to the first class (informational) on September 1th. Then fill out the online entrance questionnaire. If admitted, you will receive the CCN by e-mail before the second class.
