About the Course:
Subject Matter: Performance of Western chamber music for Western instruments (including strings, keyboard, woodwinds, brass, guitar and percussion).
Key learning outcomes: Students will focus on the principles of good ensemble playing as well as individual playing (especially listening to each other), leading to well-prepared performances.
Methods of instruction: Ensembles rehearse weekly for one and a half hours in addition to individual practice from all members. A public performance will be required of all ensembles at the end of the semester.
Evaluation of student performance: Regular attendance at rehearsals, conscientious preparation of individual parts, evaluation of progress by Faculty Sponsor and Student Facilitator, and the final performance.
Credits and Units: This class does not count toward the Music minor requirements. This is a 2-unit class that can be taken for “pass/fail” credit or for no units (auditing).
How to Enroll:
Audition results will be emailed out Wednesday night. Second meeting will be held in 125 Morrison Thursday night at 7 pm.
