About the Course:
This course provides an interactive and comprehensive overview of cancer, its various aspects and whom it affects. Students will work in groups with different committees in preparation for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life here at Cal. Students will also learn about cancer biology, prevention, treatment, and policies. Also, through weekly guest speakers they will gain the perspective of patients, survivors, care-takers, and individuals who work in the field of oncology in order grasp a broader viewpoint and better understanding of cancer and how it may affect their lives. Thus, through various means, students will be able to further their own understanding of cancer while giving back to the Berkeley community.
