About the Course:

This is a course for non-art majors who are interested in blocking out a couple of hours a week to engage in creative activities.

During the course of the semester, each student will be required to make three art pieces and present them to the class. Students will have opportunities to work on their projects in-class but some outside work is also required. There will also be some experimental art-making techniques such as cyanotypes, which we will do as a group. In addition, there will be a small amount of outside class preparation and work; for example, each student will be required to keep a journal/sketchbook on a regular basis and bring it to each class meeting. You will not be judged for how "good" or "bad" your sketches or assignments are. This course is simply meant to be a fun break from regular school life and our hope is that everyone is engaged and willing to challenge themselves with new art-making techniques.

How to Enroll:

Admittance into this course will be done by application. On the first day of instruction, Tuesday September 7th, everyone will turn in their application and we will let you know by email if you got in. The application process WILL NOT be determined by artistic merit. We encourage anyone to apply weather or not you have made art before. We are accepting 25 students, 10 lower division and 15 upper division.

Good luck everyone!

Copy and paste this application to a word doc and bring it filled out to the first class meeting. If you are writing by hand please write CLEARLY, otherwise you MAY NOT GET IN!
