About the Course:

The purpose of this course is to educate students on the importance of investing and to provide a background to the main principles and concepts of long term investing. This course begins with the basics beginning from what a stock is, what causes its price movements and how to get started investing and trading. The class will then move into basic fundamental analysis closely followed by technical. Lectures will proceed into a variety of lectures on important investing strategies such as Contrarian, High Yield, Growth @ A Reasonable Price (GAARP), Value, Growth, etc. The class will conclude with group projects/presentations on stock picks with both fundamental and technical analysis. This class is designed for students who are not familiar with investing or may have traded in the past but wish to learn more.

How to Enroll:

Enrollment will be based on a short personal statement telling us why you are interested in joining this Decal and how this Decal will help you in your future endeavors. This will be followed by small group interviews on Saturday. September 4th. A signup sheet for interview times will be provided at the first day of lecture. Your personal statements will be collected at the time of your interview.

Everyone interested in joining this Decal must attend the first class of the Decal where further details will be provided on how to enroll. 

This class is NOT based on first-come, first served. There are only a limited number of seats available for this class. CECs will be distributed to students who are accepted into the class.

First Class: Wednesday September 1st. 6-8PM

Location: Members Lounge at the Berkeley City Club. 2315 Durant Avenue. Across the street from the RSF. Note: This is the location for the First Meeting ONLY. All subsequent classes will be held in 110 Barrows.
