Breaking: The Birth Child of Hip Hop
About the Course:
Breaking: The Birth Child of Hip Hop
This course explores Breaking: a dance form, which is one of the elements of Hip Hop. Students will not only learn the beginnings of Breaking, but also the history of Hip Hop in the 70’s & 80’s. They will receive hands-on experience, by learning and practicing fundamental dance moves every class. More importantly, students will get the rare opportunity to listen to eminent guest lecturers (this will be revealed later in the curriculum). Our main hope is for individuals to be able to see the beauty in the Breaking culture. The class grade will depend on attendance, participation, and essays. NOTE!!!! There has been TWO (2) Time/Schedule Changes. This is the finalized time. We are sorry for all inconveniences and complications.
How to Enroll:
All interested students must attend the first mandatory meeting (not class) on Thursday August 26, 2010 in Dwinelle hall (inside of Dwinelle in the front halls) at 8pm. Do not be late. Please bring a paper and pen; the assignment turned in on this meeting will determine your spot in the class. This class is in high demand.
**The CCN will be provided to the individuals accepted into this class. Please do not email the facilitators for CCNs.
