About the Course:

This is a performance course in which students learn to play the erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument.

This is a course for beginners, there are no prerequisites, and it is open to all interested students.

Students will learn to read music and become familiar with how to properly play the instrument. Students will be required to practice the weekly assignments out of class time. After completing the course, students should be able to perform three traditional erhu pieces as well as various exercises.

The music department will only be able to provide 5 erhus for this DeCal, so students will be encouraged to provide their own instruments (more information will be given on the first day).

How to Enroll:

Show up to the first class on Sept. 7th to receive syllabus and to go over course requirements and expectations. Attendance is MANDATORY if you wish to enroll in the course. The first class will be held in 125 Morrison Hall (Stage Room)

Course applications will be handed out during the first class. Enrollment will begin after the first class. DO NOT enroll on Telebears before the first class. Students who do so will be asked to drop the course.
