About the Course:
In this class we will explore cultural and societal themes through Disney film. From Walt Disney’s creation of the studio to the present, we will look at Disney from different spectrums, analyzing how we have influenced Disney and how Disney has influenced us, asking the question what it means to grow up with Disney? Topics of discussion will be: Disney and Park history; portrayals of race, religion, and gender in film; Disney and WWII; Broadway; the Disney Corporation; Anti-Disney culture; and the future of Disney.
