About the Course:

The course is ideal for anyone who wanted to explore/engage in Pilipin@ identitiy and issues but doesn't have the time or space in their major academic schedule. It's also a nice way to get involved in a space outside traditional student organizations and activities.

This course strives to provide students a space to explore and interrogate their location within current academia, with respect to Pilipin@ culture, identity, experience. We will draw on existing work illuminating historic and present issues for peoples of color, and use these to reflect on our own personal and family narratives. Various activities and discussions will inform a new way to animate and rearticulate these narratives, culminating in the production of a jouranl of final essays, articles, and presentations written and researched by our class, as a tangible contribution and address to the limited Pilipin@-related academia produced here at Cal.

This decal will meet once a week for 2-3 hours a week, beginning the second week of instruction. All are welcome, feel free to stop by to check it out as your schedule allows! :)
