About the Course:

Focus on Photography is an introductory photography course that will teach beginning photographers the technical and artistic concepts necessary to advance their photography. Classes will be primarily based on lectures, group critiques, demos and hands-on exercises. Graded material consists of the final portfolio, homework, one quiz and group participation, including attendance.

The primary focus of this class, aside from teaching you the fundamentals, is the development of your portfolio. Each student will submit a portfolio proposal, visualize his or her desired photos, receive group feedback via critiques, and apply the knowledge acquired through this class to his or her work.

Digital cameras are preferred, but film cameras are suitable as well. However, an SLR-type camera is required for this class. SLRs are the big, professional-looking cameras that have interchangable lenses. Unfortunately, compact point-and-shoot cameras will not be acceptable for this class. If you can't remove your camera's lens, it's not an SLR.

In order to pass this class, you need a grade of 70% or higher.
