Nonprofits and Social Causes in the Americas
About the Course:
This course, intended for students already active in a social cause, will introduce the history of nonprofits in America, the ethical implications of altruism today and a step by step guide on how to prepare and submit the paperwork necessary to attain nonprofit tax exemption in California and Federal 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
How to Enroll:
Students should arrive to the first day of class prepared with a mission statement, a working title, and at least two members who will act as your administrative board (only one member need enroll in this course).
Ten students will be selected based on the feasibility of their mission objective and will receive the course code before the following class.Course Contact: pfox AT berkeley.edu
