About the Course:
Berkeley Engineers and Mentors (BEAM) is a program created to provide students at low-income schools and after school programs with engaging engineering activities that stimulate their interest in pursuing careers in math, science and engineering. UC Berkeley volunteers will serve as mentors and be given the opportunity to work with younger students on a weekly basis. Decal members will also learn about science education and build relationships with their mentees over the course of the semester. As part of the decal, volunteers will also work in groups to design their own educational engineering activity that will be introduced to the volunteer sites during the last two weeks of the semester.
