About the Course:
This course is coordinated by me and one of the most highly-rated Haas professors, Prof. Perez-Reyes.
We will cover two topics - financial investment, and the current economic downturn.
Students will:
- learn how to invest in stocks, bonds, etc
- receive experience by practicing using simulation programs
- be able to execute orders and invest without a financial advisor
- understand the fundamental ways of investing during regular as well as difficult times
The DeCal will ensure that students understand the different methods of investing during a bull market (e.g. 1992-1999) and a bear market (2007-2XXX).
By the end of the course, students will have gained the basic knowledge about investing.
This course will be fast-paced and the material will be very dense, so for those looking for easy units this is not the course.
PS: I will try to end class by 8:30.
How to Enroll:
Admission is highly competitive. From my past experience, there're about four applicants for every open spot.
Admission is determined based on interest in course materials. Applicants must submit a paragraph explaining why s/he should be offered a spot. Applicants may e-mail their submissions prior to first day of instruction.
Admission decisions will be e-mailed out before the second lecture. Therefore you MUST show up on the first day - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Note: CCNs and CECs will only be passed out to those who are offered a spot to be in the course. They will be handed out in class.
