About the Course:

This decal will introduce students to the ten most organized religions (based on followers) in the world.  These religions include Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Sikhism, Baha’i Faith,Confucianism, Jainism, and Shinto.  Academic scholars which include professors, graduate students, and independent researchers will present the lectures to students. The goal of this class is to educate students about the basic aspects of these religions.  This course by no means serves as a comprehensive study of the ten major world religions listed above.  It merely tries to present the best overview within a two hour period.

The goal of the class is to provide basic information on these religions and diminish the great number of incorrect pre-conceived notions individuals have towards many religions.  This course will be presented from an academic perspective and will encourage student input during the .5 hour discussion.

The class is structured into 2 parts: a 1.5 hour presentation on one of the above religions with a .5 hour Q & A session.  There will also be a 5-10 minute break during each class period.  For further questions feel free to contact the facilitator, Hardeep Dhillon, at hdhillon06@gmail.com.

How to Enroll:

Course control numbers for both the upper division and lower division part of the course will be distributed during the first class session.  This class was initially limited to 20 students; however, the class size has now been increased to 40 students due to popular demand.  The course control number will be given on the basis of a lottery drawing held by the facilitator and advisor.  There are twenty seats available for the lower division section and twenty available for the upper division section.  If  you have further questions feel free to contact the facilitator, Hardeep Dhillon, at hdhillon06@gmail.com.
