About the Course:
The Issues, Berkeley Medical Journal DeCal is designed for individuals
interested in learning about science journalism, medicine, or public
health and provides a rare opportunity for undergraduates to craft and
publish an article each semester. Issues students work closely with the
editorial board, which is itself composed of former students, to draft two
major articles throughout the course of the semester: one focusing on a
broad issue, and the other representing a more focused examination of a
given topic. The editorial board then determines those articles that are
best suited for publication. The class also features guest speakers from
the biomedical and public health fields. Class begins on the third week
of the semester.
