About the Course:

This course is designed to give students an understanding of the culture, lifestyle, medical issues, and health care in Central American countries. We will hear lectures and presentations from course facilitators, professors, and organization leaders. We will hold workshops to learn clinical and language skills essential to students hoping to participate in future trips (brigades) to such countries.

We will examine the public health concerns in these countries and actively work towards potential solutions. We hope to integrate the teachings and ideas of both clinical medicine and public health projects in a comprehensive approach to providing care in the Spanish-speaking Latin American countries.
