About the Course:

Welcome to the Taiwanese Decal!

Interested in learning a new language? (Or interested in finding out what your parents are really talking about when they speak in Taiwanese at home?)  Interested in finding out more about Taiwan – its people, food, customs and culture – perhaps even sampling some Taiwanese snacks?

The Taiwanese Language Decal is designed to teach students the basics of Taiwanese language, and also help students gain a better understand of Taiwan – its people and culture. The Decal is offered at the Beginner and Intermediate levels and meets twice a week (MW or TTh) from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

The beginner level is designed for students with none, or extremely little experience in Taiwanese.
The intermediate level is designed for students who have taken the beginner level course, or are able to speak and understand Taiwanese at a basic level.
(Where did the advanced level go? We will be revising and restructuring the advanced level course this semester – if all goes well we will be offering it again next Spring ^^).

How to Enroll:

Orientations will be held on Wednesday, Sep. 3 and Thursday Sep. 4 at 5:00pm in 187 Dwinelle.

Classes will begin the following week and CEC and CCNs will be given out after the second day of class. You must attend both the first and second classes to receive a CEC.

We would like to keep our class sizes to a maximum of 25 students and hence, depending on the level of interest, there may be an application process. More information about this will be provided at the orientation.
