About the Course:
A different part of investigative reporting will be covered in class each week, drawing on the knowledge of local media professionals. We will invite representatives from the Center for Investigative Reporting, professors from the Graduate School of Journalism and local journalists. Students will discuss how to obtain public documents and use archives.
The course will be taught as a seminar, encouraging group discussion and feedback on the progress of investigative projects. Throughout the semester students will work to report and produce a web package consisting of an in-depth article and supporting multimedia elements. These packages will demonstrate considerable knowledge of the issue investigated and show advanced reporting skills.
How to Enroll:
As the course will require some advanced reporting, students should have a background in journalism or some reporting experience.
Please email decal@dailycal.org with the subject line "In-depth Reporting" to obtain more information about enrolling.
