The Daily Cal DeCal: Photojournalism

Section 1: Intro to Photojournalism

Thursday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

This class will focus on becoming familiar and comfortable with the technical aspects of (digital) SLR photography and how to produce the types of photos under the umbrella term of “photojournalism.” 

Section 2: The Picture Story

Wednesday, 3-5 p.m.

Students will decide on a project topic and work to create a picture story. This is the advanced section of the Daily Cal Decal: Introduction to Photojournalism. Take this class if you're interested in documentary photography.

Enrollment is restricted by Course Entry Codes. Come to the first day of class in order to confirm your spot on the waitning list and enroll. To be placed on the waitlist, please email photodecal@dailycal.org.
 

Note: An SLR camera will be required for this class.  Digital is recommended. 
 

The course will be open to all students on campus, but will also serve as the training for new Daily Cal editorial staffers. Spots are reserved for new hires in the Daily Cal photo department. 

Requirements for the advanced section  (one of the following):

1. Introduction to Photojournalism: Daily Cal Decal

2. High School or college-level photo class
