Berkeley Fiction Review

The Berkeley Fiction Review is a nationally distributed publication that receives short fiction from all over the world. The BFR is entirely student run, with class members taking part in reviewing and choosing which of these stories get published. This decal is a great opportunity to learn more about publishing, copyediting, and critiquing short fiction. In addition, students may have the opportunity to participate in other areas: selecting artwork for the magazine, work related to copyediting, fundraising, marketing, layout design, and other general topics of the small press.

The Berkeley Fiction Review publishes short stories of various styles in an annual magazine, from the mainstream to the experimental, but we do not publish poetry or non-fiction. Members of the class are NOT allowed to submit stories for publication. To be clear, we read short fiction, we do not write it.
 

Enrollment Info:

If interested in joining, please email the editors with your name and class level. There are 25 upper division spots (for juniors and seniors) and 15 lower division spots (for freshmen and sophomores.) The content of the course is the same for both levels. The course is available for 1 or 2 units depending on the amount of reading you wish to do, which will be explained on the first day of class. The CCN will be given out at the first meeting. You will not be allowed into the class if you are not at the first meeting.

 UPDATE 9/1:

Both roaters are currently full. There are 13 people on the upper div waitlist and 5 people on the lower div waitlist.
