About the Course:

Premed 101 is for students looking to acquire a better understanding of confusing issues in the field of medicine as well as in the medical school application process.

The class will begin with a summary of what it takes to become a successful premed. Topics include what classes to take, how to go about obtaining research/clinical experience, and how to do well on the MCAT. The class will shift later in the course to major issues in medicine that are crucial to a medical career.

Throughout this course you will hear from a myriad of informative speakers that are highly successful in their respective fields such as physicians, surgeons, premed counselors and medical school students. The 2 units will come from five homework assignments and attendance. There is more information on our course syllabus.

Note: Website for Spring 2008 semester has not been updated yet.

How to Enroll:

Premed 101 will be held in 159 Mulford every Wednesday 5-630 (schedule.berkeley.edu lists the time as 5 to 7 pm. That is incorrect). Please sign up for the lower division if you are a freshman or sophomore (less than 60 units) and upper division if you are a Junior or a Senior. THERE IS CLASS THE FIRST WEEK! CLASS FILLS UP VERY QUICKLY SO SIGN UP BEFORE YOU SHOW UP TO THE FIRST CLASS. It is highly improbable that your enrollment will be accepted after the 2nd week of class.
