About the Course:
How do you act without a script?
How do you sing without sheet music?
How do you tell a story without knowing the ending?
YOU IMPROVISE!!
In this class, students will learn how to be their own writers, directors, actors, and even choreographers as we explore the underlying skills of improv. and stage performance. These include storytelling, spontaneity, listening, status, mime, and much, much more!
Through a combination of in-class workshops, written reflections, and observing professional improvisors in-action, students will become comfortable with the basics of performing improvised scenes, playing theater games, and setting up for an improvised performance.
The class culminates in an End of the Semester Showcase so you can invite your friends, family, and former college roommates to see you show off all the schnazzy new things you've learned this semester.
How to Enroll:
Enrollment for this class is limited to twelve students. On the first day of class, students will interview for two to five minute with the instructor. These interviews will cover each student's interest in the course, their background (if any) in acting, storytelling or performance, and their goals for the semester. The final class list will then be e-mailed to everyone within two days along with the course control number for enrollment.
