About the Course:

Thousands of years before the Lord of the Rings, it was the time of the Elves. Men were young in the world, and a Dark Lord of which Sauron was but a mere servant made war on the free peoples of Middle-Earth with armies of dragons and legions of Balrogs. So is the legendary tale of the early History of Middle-Earth. In this course, students will explore the rich and vibrant history of Middle-Earth beginning with the shaping of the world and ending with Isildur cutting the ring from Sauron's hand. To accomplish this course, students will read the Silmarillion, an often underrated work that JRR Tolkien held as his favorite work.

How to Enroll:

Enrollment will be based on a first come, first serve basis on the first day of class. Class will begin on the second thursday of the Spring Semester (whichever day that happens to be) and students who wish to enroll are expected to arrive at the appointed location ON-TIME.

IMPORTANT!

Contrary to what the site says, the course has not started yet! The first day is Jan 31, 2008! So show up to the room then!
