About the Course:

This is UC Berkeley’s first club and DeCal focused on HDSLR’s and Competitive filmmaking. We Keep up with the newest trends and tutorials by the top creatives in the industry. In addition, the films that are produced by our very own students at The University of California Berkeley will showcase their competitive films, National Ads and more. All work is shot solely with HDSLR’s. In 2011 there will be a constant flow of tutorials featured.We  participate in many events, competitions, and feature guest speakers and more.

Prerequisites: None

{Please advise if you currently own or have access to a Canon HDSLR.  However, it is not required that you own one.}

Course Description: This course is designed to encourage students to think beyond the norm.  Students will learn about the different sources to showcase and/or participate in film competitions. In addition, there will be a strong focus on the pros and cons of this new way of filmmaking and media.  Students will be shown the ways in which they can build their reel and create a name for themselves within the entertainment field and start producing income independently.  This will be a fun course intended to awaken each individual’s creative juices and guide them to the vast possibilities available.  In addition, it will allow students to walk away with an understanding of who they are as a film maker or creative, so that they can find their story and their personal style.  This course is for all levels of filmmakers, from beginning to experienced HDSLR users.

General learning goals:

1: To have a solid understanding of how to get the most out of Canon DSLR’s.

2: What sources and sites are available to showcase your work to top executives.

3: Learn how to “think outside of the box” in order to stand out.

4: How to ensure that you have balance between vision and sound.

How to Enroll:

Must be at first day of class for enrollment information.
